Too yellow

Dear Krissy,

I recently went to my regular hair stylist to get my roots done I have blonde hair but this time the end result looks really yellow and I do not like it. I am wondering if I called to have it fixed if another process so soon would damage my hair or would doing it again be ok?

Vicki, Fort Myers

Dear Vicki,
I think they would just put a toner all over your hair that would tame the yellow a bit so my guess is that it would be just fine. Please always remember to discuss this with your hair dresser so they know your concerns regarding the over all health of your hair.

Help, Psoriasis!

Dear Krissy,
I have bad psoriasis on my scalp. It flakes so much that you can see it on my shoulders just like in the commercials. What can I do to heal this up?

Flaky, Fort Myers

I'm sorry to hear that! I am a big fan of essential oils and so the first thing I think of when I hear about a problem like this is oil treatments for the scalp. You will want to use a carrior oil such as grapeseed oil and then add three drops of each of the following essential oils to it Bergamont, Cedarwood and Geranium oil. Take this essential oil cocktail and massage it into the scalp and leave it on for at least 20 minutes, continue this daily until you see an improvement. This will help with moisturizing and healing the area. Some things you should stay away from that make psoriasis flare up is too much sun and alcohol.

Pore Dilemma!

Dear Krissy,
I have VERY large pores on my face. I have tried everything but it does not seem to make a difference. I have been thinking about getting a facial but I am not sure if there is anything that will help. What do you think?

Alyssa, Bonita Springs

Dear Alyssa,
This is something a facial can definitely help. The best type of facial for this problem is a lactic acid facial. This facial not only exfoliates skin, it cleans debris from the pores and removes dead skin cells and excess oils deep within the derma. A great bonus from this facial is it leaves a fresh, new top layer of skin that looks incredibly smooth!

Help - I'm orange!

Dear Krissy,

I am going to a wedding and wanted to have a little color on my legs. I do not go in the sun so I used a self tanner and I turned orange! Is there anything I can use to make the orange disappear?

Lana, Fort Myers

Dear Lana,
A full body exfoliation might help but it will not take it away completely. Exfoliating is really the only way to remove it. In conjunction with the professional exfoliation you could do an at home exfoliating with salt scrubs, loofa sponges and did you know that shaving your legs is a form of exfoliating? But don't forget with all of this exfoliation you must moisturize or you will become too dry. The good news is since it has been chilly out you could always wear pants and long sleeves - plus don't forget that scarves are the in thing right now!

Help - Pink Hair!

Dear Krissy,
Help, my hair is turning pink! I have naturally brown hair and decided to dye it fire engine red with blonde streaks. Now the streaks are turning pink, what should I do?

Michele, Cape Coral

Hi Michelle,
It sounds like the red streaks are bleeding into your blonde streaks. Your hair stylist should be able to correct this. In the future, you could try separating the streaks when washing your hair. An easy way to do this is to apply a very thick conditioner to the blonde hair which will act as a barrier and protect it from the red dye.
Good luck!

Confused about Reflexology

Dear Krissy,
Why do people get reflexology on their feet? Is a foot massage during a full body the same thing?

Carl, Cape Coral

Hi Carl,
Reflexology is a targeted treatment that many people choose to do rather than or in addition to a full body massage. With reflexology you can work on internal organs which might be helpful for people suffering from digestion, constipation and many other problems. A general massage just focuses on the muscles. This is why massage and reflexology make a great combination!

New Nails

Dear Krissy,
I have been thinking about getting artificial nails. I know that people either get gel or acrylic nails, what is the difference?
Nikki, Fort Myers

Hi Nikki,
Gel is a bit more gentle to the natural nail than acrylic. My opinion is that the gel nail also looks more natural than acrylic at times. Although, if you have a certain type of nail art in mind a lot of the new techniques work better with one or the other.

Toothpaste for pimples?

Dear Krissy,
I get the occasional pimple on my face and I have heard that toothpaste will help to get rid of it. Is that true?

Marissa, Cape Coral

Dear Marissa,
This is a great question because a lot of people ask me the same thing. Just like everything you apply to your skin it will depend on your skin type and the type of toothpaste you are using. You could try a test area to make sure it does not irritate your skin and if it doesn't then give it a try! The results are mixed and maybe this might be your new miracle treatment. If it does not work you might want to mix up a baking soda paste and apply it to the area. This is very effective because it draws everything to the surface. Good Luck!

Vitamin C To Fight Aging

Dear Krissy,
What product would you recommend for the face to fight aging?

Laura, Fort Myers

Dear Laura,
I am a big fan of Vitamin C. There are many facial products on the market that now include Vitamin C and we even offer an ampuole of pure Vitamin C that I recommend putting under your moisturizer. Vitamin C is wonderful because it boosts your natural collagen levels which fight premature aging.

TOP 5 Helpful Tips

"Top 5" Helpful Tips for scheduling a Big Event with a salon:

1. If you have a certain "look" in mind, try to bring a picture of what you're are thinking of. That way, it gives you a base from which to work from and leaves less room for misunderstanding.

2. When booking your appointments, always factor in travel time and changing time into everyone's schedule so you are not running late for your next event.

3. Try and keep the day of your event "simple" in terms of scheduling. Focus on hair, nails and makeup. If you are interested in other services, such as massage or facials, we recommend doing those on a different day so that your "Big Event" day does not get too hectic.

4. Stick to the basics! Don't attempt any cut or coloring on the day of your Big Event. If considering a major change to your look, try to complete doing so about a month prior to your big day, so that you have plenty of time to get used to the changes.

5. SMILE...ENJOY... AND LIVE IN THE MOMENT!!!!!

Giving the Perfect Gift

Dear Krissy,
I was hoping to purchase a gift certificate for someone who has been very good to me. I'm not sure, though, exactly what type of services this person would really like. How should I go about choosing these services? Can you lead me in the right direction?

Grateful, Fort Myers Beach

This is a very thoughtful way to thank someone! I know we always strive to purchase the perfect gift, but sometimes picking one out can be difficult. Our gift certificates can be purchased for either a specific service or dollar amount. Some people prefer giving the dollar amount, so their recipient can select the service for themselves. Another great thing about our gift certificates is that even if you do choose a specific service, your recipient can "exchange" it for a treatment of their liking by simply taking the dollar amount that you spent and applying it toward any service we offer. We are extremely flexible and accommodating, because we want our gift certificates to be the among the best gifts that they have ever received!
