    Dear Krissy,

I am going to a special holiday gathering in just a couple of weeks and I have been thinking about just getting a couple of of highlights around my face.  That is the only place I want them.  If I go to a salon and request that will they do what I request or try and pressure me into more than I want?

    Michelle, Fort Myers

    Dear Michelle,

Remember, the client is always right.  If it is something that would be harmful to your hair or if the stylist has an idea that they want to share with you they might do that because that is their job, but in the end it is always your decision as to what you will have done to your hair.  Always stick to your guns when you have a definite idea in mind to guarantee you leave looking exactly the way you wanted!

    Dear Krissy,

I saw a commercial on TV about an at home hair color that will do high lites, low lites and add shine all in one application.  It was tempting because of the savings of doing it at home.  What are your feelings on at home hair color?

    Lori, Fort Myers Beach

    Dear Lori,

Not knowing exactly the product you are referring to I cant give you a specific opinion BUT my general opinion is to leave it to the professionals.  We do soooooo much corrective hair color in our salon that when you do have to get it corrected it costs so much more than if you would have had it professionally done in the first place.

If you suffer from frizzy hair your towel could be to blame. The texture of a regular towel can cause a lot of friction turning your hair into one super frizzball! Try first squeezing the excess water from your hair and then blot your hair with an absorbent PAPER towel (yes, I said paper towel, the more absorbent the better). This will help to keep your hair smooth and frizz-free. Follow this with styling products that work best for your hair type.

    Dear Krissy,
I get the occasional pimple on my face and I have heard that toothpaste will help to get rid of it. Is that true?

    Marissa, Cape Coral

    Dear Marissa,
This is a great question because a lot of people ask me the same thing. Just like everything you apply to your skin it will depend on your skin type and the type of toothpaste you are using. You could try a test area to make sure it does not irritate your skin and if it doesn’t then give it a try! The results are mixed and maybe this might be your new miracle treatment. If it does not work you might want to mix up a baking soda paste and apply it to the area. This is very effective because it draws everything to the surface. Good Luck!

Vitamin C is a wonderful product to fight signs of aging because it boosts your natural collagen levels which fight premature aging. I recommend putting it under your moisturizer daily.

Just because you’re in Florida, it doesn’t mean that chlorine needs to get the best of you…or your hair! For a great “at home” remedy, add some baking soda to your shampoo should your hair be tinted green after swimming in a pool.

Believe it or not, a great home remedy for a severe dry scalp is olive oil! Just apply it to your hair, massage gently into your scalp, and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing. You’ll soon be looking magnifico!

To help make your polish last longer, try using a base coat. I love “Bonder” by Orly. It dries quickly and is perfect for women on the go!
